London does not have zip codes. America on the other hand has one designated zip code for a certain area but London has over hundreds of posy codes. Many foreign travelers over wonder about the zip codes in London, England but they failed to understand that Londoners use post codes which are considered to be very unique and distinct for each specified area. As a matter of fact, post codes are a fad in London. It has become an obsession around London.

The prices of houses for sale are mainly defined by the location and what is more peculiar is that, Londoners are eager to pay above the usual price for a very desirable post code.

London’s post codes were a part of the reforms with the postal system in the year 1840 for the primary reason that the population in London has rapidly increased to a greater number or volume of letters.

It was Sir Rowland Hills who proposed the city to be divided into 10 separate postal districts. London has been divided into several postal regions with its very own post code. The post codes of UK are combined with letters and numbers in the form of XX12 3YY (where XX can be one or two letters; 1, 2 and 3 can be any numbers and YY can be any two letters).

The first one or two letters (XX) indicate the region. For London they are:  N: North E: East W: WestWC: West Central EC: East Central SE: South East SW: South WestNE: North East
